I have just finished this course, and I highly recommend it. I would say that the introduction video gives a good indication of what to expect. You will not be disappointed!.” Ronald Deerenberg

Chris makes the material fun and easy to understand. He recognizes which parts are boring and speeds through them, while still touching on all the key points necessary for you to get a basic understanding of the concept. He is passionate and really a great teacher.” Travis Nguyen

Hi Chris, I’ve just completed this course in one week … And as a practising Attorney at Law and Avocat à la Cour working in IP Investment and Finance, I found the content of exceptional quality, highly relevant and extremely practical as it applies to my Law practice. It was so pleasing to do this course and to listen to someone who is just as passionate as myself … Passion is such a rare quality … I would love to have more entrepreneurs take this course, prior, to coming in to see me or contacting me for assistance … It is always so difficult to say no, but nothing beats having high standards. As such, I will not hesitate to refer this course to them … ” Marcia Moulon-Atherley, Esq.

JavaScript: Understanding the Weird Parts

  • Write solid, good Javascript code
  • Understand advanced concepts such as closures, prototypal inheritance, IIFEs, and much more.
  • Drastically improve your ability to debug problems in Javascript.
  • Avoid common pitfalls and mistakes other Javascript coders make
  • Understand the source code of popular Javascript frameworks
  • Build your own Javascript framework or library

Most useful course reviews:

Usually, when I started to learn javascript in the past, it usually starts with variables, functions and other usual stuff which is kind of boring and fails to explain how it is different from other object -oriented languages such as Java/C#. But I think this course absolutely nails it explaining how javascript is unique and what concepts make it unique. I also liked how well author explained all those concepts.”  Murty Srirangam

Amazing lecture and teacher! Anthony Alicea explains JavaScript in a way that makes it easy to understand and learn. I have taken the Codecademy JavaScript course and went through the MakerSquare “MakerPrep” class. Both failed to give me the deeper understanding of the language that Anthony’s lecture has. I now better understand functions and what goes on “under the hood” of JavaScript. If you’re looking to learn JavaScript, do yourself a favor (and save yourself some money on an expensive bootcamp course) and take JavaScript: Understanding the Weird Parts with Anthony Alicea!” Brandon Short

By far the best javascript series I’ve gone through. The teacher is very thorough. Some may complain that it’s too slow. I think he does this deliberately to ensure that the foundational concepts are grasped before he moves on to more advanced topics.” Mark Dacre

Very easy to understand course. Goes into the basics and how things work rather than showing examples of how to build things. If you’re looking for a course that teaches you how to learn xx by doing xx projects then you’d be disappointed in this. But if you want to learn the fundamentals of Javascript, then you can’t go wrong with this.” Robin Roy Julius

Colt really does a fantastic job with the pace and the sequence and explaining everything in a way that I’m thankful for. I’m an old-school guy who learned HTML back in January, 1996. I went to WordPress in 2005 and lost track of the tech. Well, I’m starting to get caught back up in the daunting task of creating websites from scratch. The reason I’m changing back from WordPress is because there are so many problems with security and the sites are very slow and take lots of money and resources just to run at a semi-respectable rate. Sometimes I can’t even get my WordPress sites to come up for minutes because someone else on the server has decided to reboot the thing. This course and Colt are making sure I never have to deal with that stuff again. I’m loving this “new” (LOL) HTML5 with CSS3 and all the Javascript he covers. I love using it on plain old websites in the cloud (AWS) and can’t believe the speed. Woohoo! Colt is a great teacher, even for an old dog like me. If you’re looking to get into or re-learn the basics, Colt is the guy to go to. I’m not aware of anyone even close to his level of caring + knowledge + ability to teach + organization +… This IS the course to get you in the game. Or back in the game. 🙂” Russell Burnham

I got a developer job thanks to this course. I’ve looked through many courses and I can tell you that everything you need to know to become a web developer and not look stupid at a job is in this course. Nothing comes close. I would give this course 10 stars if I could because it’s helping me get paid a lot of money. It’s changed my life.” J D

Colt is an incredible teacher. He is down to earth, straight forward, and extremely knowledgeable. Colt does not hesitate to offer his students all of the resources needed, even if it means something outside of his course. His lessons are extremely in depth, varied, and well paced; so that in taking it not only did I not become bored, but I became more excited as the course went on. The other students in the course are very supportive, and Colt has set up a chat room for everyone to ask questions of each other and give support. Colt and his assistant are also quick to reply if there are any problems that another student can’t help you with. I feel like a web dev!“Greg Jacoby

I find myself learning not just most updated modern web design knowledge but fundamental concepts bits by bits in every lesson. Nowadays web development changes so fast and getting to the points is getting more important. Colt lives up to his promise to us that this course is ONLY COURSE FOR WHOEVER WHO WANTS TO START LEARNING BECOMING A FULL STACK WEB DEVELOPER!“Lo Jin Shuen

Most useful course reviews:

Near perfect as either an intro to Java or as a refresher if you are feeling a little rusty. The hands-on code challenges are far better than most courses in that they have some depth and complexity.” Wayne Hiner

“With this course, Tim has not only thought about content but also about structure. As an example, separating the various platforms out for downloading software is a great idea. Its also easy to follow, which helps build confidence. Best of all, Tim isn’t afraid to repeat the important stuff, and doesn’t make assumptions such as “you know what OS version you’re running”. I appreciate that, based on many years of IT support. All this makes me look forward to the next lecture – and this is what putting a great course together is all about.”Mike Diggins

“I liked the course and learned a lot. I did find the instructor very capable and knowledgeable. The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars is that in the challenges, the instructor has a tendency to insert topics that have not been covered yet, which would then throw me off, and the specifications can also be confusing at times, you have to read it twice.”Alan Bantug

“I am just getting started but this has been absolutely excellent so far. I was struggling to understand a textbook I am using for an online Programming in Java class at my local community college. I was frustrated trying to read and understand a very complicated textbook and then I found this class – what a breadth of fresh air! I am finally able to create programs and test them. Thank you very much for this course! I could have saved hundreds of dollars if I had found this before enrolling at my community college. But I am just grateful to be able to understand these concepts because they are presented so well with short explanations/demonstrations and mini challenges each step of the way. I feel like I have a private tutor sitting beside me. This is wonderful!!! I am so excited to be learning after several weeks of frustration in my online community college class. Now I am able to read and understand the textbook for my other class and do the assignments I am required to do because I have seen the topics demonstrated here in a way that makes much more sense. The language in my textbook was very confusing – this is very simple and easy to understand. This will save me lots of time and frustration! Thank you!”Christine Engbert

Most useful course reviews:

I think that the course breaks down all of the mentioned functions very well, but in my opinion it should include some tests/tasks to ponder upon to reaffirm the acquired knowledge.

I have found it pleasant viewing, much more intuitive to see Jose implement code and chat about what is happening than reading dry texts on it. Before starting this I took the Bootcamp course too to get me up to speed on Python basics which was also very worth doing. I feel much better now that I can make pretty graphs though! When I finish this I will definitely look at doing his new course.” Clivepie

Jose is a great instructor and thoroughly explains each section’s info in great detail. In the early lectures, I felt I needed examples to solidify my understanding and that came later in the titanic, stock market and election tutorials. If I had any suggestions, I would ask for more examples to work through earlier on in the course. Thanks to Jose for putting a course like this together.” Austin

I have a background in GIS and python, and am enjoying expanding my python knowledge. So far I am finding the course informative, engaging and applied in nature. The instructor guides you step by step and communicates clearly and effectively.” Jackie Hoglund

This is an extremely interesting course where a huge amount of things are covered. The problem is that most of it is not introduced in an intuitive way. The instructor does not fully explain how commands or methods work, and instead just applies them to the current situation. This is extremely frustrating for those who want to apply the techniques shown to different situations. So a great deal of personal testing is needed, especially searching up APIs etc… So this course is definitely not for a complete beginner that wants to leave the course with confidence that the set of skills learned will be useful elsewhere. For beginners I highly recommend the free online book: Automate the Boring Stuff with Python by Al Sweigart (who has a Udemy course too). That being said, the course is great for introducing new ideas and capabilities of Python, and for a more experienced programmer that above issues are easily addressed. So going through the course isn’t the best usage of time unless the videos are skimmed quickly to get the general gist, as most people who want to get the most out of the libraries and modules involved in Data Analysis are going to be googling and testing things on their own. The iPython notebooks accompanying the videos are useful for skimming the lectures even more quickly, and the final projects are very interesting. Going through this course, with the proper knowledge of what each method does will certainly be rewarding and useful…” Slade Wilson

Would you like to know more about Java programming language? If yes, you are at the right place. But before discussing Java language any further, it is prudent you first understand who invented it and in which year. The person who is credited with having invented java in 1994 is known as Gosling. Why? He is the one who come up with the Java’s original design and then went ahead and developed the language’s original virtual machine and compiler.

What is Java?

It is a general-purpose programming language that was initially developed by Sun Microsystems, which later merged with Oracle Corporation. Currently, it is the most utilized programming language in the computer industry powering over 3 billion devices and with more than 9 million developers using it. Luckily, due to its popularity and wide adoption, there is a large amount of helpful resources including support communities, libraries, documentation and so on.
As a modern programming language, Java is a concurrent, platform-independent, object-oriented programming language with a neutral architecture and whose programs are highly portable. What does it mean when we say that Java is an interpreted language? It means that Java language bytecode has to pass through the JVM (to be interpreted) before it can run on your hardware unlike for C++ or C programs. Also, Java has an inbuilt automated memory management system. Where did it derive most of its concepts? From C++ and C, although it is a higher level language than both of them.

What is its function?

Originally, java’s goal was to develop write-once’ run-anywhere’ applications. What does that mean? The applications developed using Java language can predictably and seamlessly run on different computer architectures. On the other hand, C and C++ programs have to be compiled separately per each operating system and hardware architecture of the machine you want to run the program on, thus limiting that application’s portability. However, applications made in Java are saved as bytecode which can be run predictably, consistently and safely on any combination of OS and hardware that supports Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

What are its applications?

Java programming language is used in countless real world applications such as developing Android applications. Other applications like client-server web apps and web apps like e-commerce sites are also programmed in Java, not to mention numerous software development debug environments and tools like Eclipse. Some other areas where Java is employed, albeit in some form, include the big data analytics field where you can find Hadoop tool and the financial industry field where you can find analytic tools, client portals, and trading applications among others. Probably, even the web browser you are using to read this content has huge chunks of java code.

Advantages of using Java

One of the benefits that stand out about it is its ability to work across varying operating systems and platforms. As we saw earlier on, Java applications’ bytecode can be installed and then run on all platforms through JVM. Considering the array of devices currently on the market, Java smoothens things up for developers. Apart from that, Java language has great networking support, great database management, and many reusable software libraries. Better still, it comes along with excellent debug and development environment that makes it easy for developers to code complex applications.

There are many programming languages that have been created ever since the advent of modern-age computers ranging from C++ to Java, Python, JavaScript and visual basic among others. Although some programmers have mastered most of the languages, it is simply logical to learn one at a time. Python is one of the marketable programming languages and you can easily take course classes to expand your understanding of the language.

What is it?

Essentially, python is a high level (object oriented) programming language first developed in the 80s. It depicts easy to learn readable syntax that make programming easier since you only need a few lines of codes to write a function when compared to other complex languages like C++. Python can be easily interpreted by computers and therefore requires no compiling before it is run. It also makes it easier to re-use codes and modularity. Besides, the weight of the edit-test and debug process is lessened and takes only a short time.

What can python achieve?

As a programming language, python is quite versatile and can be used for writing almost all sorts of programs from GUI (graphical user interface) to web development. It provides a broad range of data that includes strings, numbers, floats and lists among others supporting object oriented programming that feature inheritance, hierarchy and classes. Support for clean error handling is also integrated using strong data types whose incompatible mixing causes exceptions. Such incompatibility exceptions are raised early and an inbuilt memory management and garbage collector saves you the time spent in tracking allocations.

The uses of python language are quite obvious and straightforward. As a flexible language that needs no compiling, python has been used in various programming needs including;
• Web development – Internet protocols such as JSON and HTML are all supported by python standard libraries and the codes have been used to develop both web frameworks and CMS (content management systems). Python frameworks underline platforms such as Django CMS, Google App Engine, Quora and YouTube among many others.

• Scientific computing and software development – Spicy and Panda are some of the software used in scientific computing and analysis. Both have been developed using python codes. Software developers have also shown interest in using python language to create their applications. Some of the software applications that use python include Apache Gump, Buildbot Roundup and Trac.

• Desktop GUI – Python distribution includes a graphical user interface library that is used in different GUI developments for desktop and screen viewing.

There are many other uses of python as a programming language. As aforesaid, it is flexible and can be used in just about any kind of programming.

Benefits of python

programmers love python language for various obvious reasons that include the following;
• The language is clean and elegant providing easy to read and learn syntax. This ultimately reduces the cost and effort of developing, maintaining and upgrading the program.

• Since python results in a shorter edit-test and debug process, it offers room for increased productivity. It also has a standard library with many tasks that you are probably already accustomed to using such as searching through text.

There are many other benefits of python programming language. It is easy to add new models and the language provides an interface when it is embedded into other applications. Moreover, it runs on most operating systems and it is a free programming language.
